Welcome to the official guide for Flow Equalizer! This guide will walk you through how to make the most of the app's features to enhance your audio experience on Android devices.

Flow Equalizer helps you enhance audio quality, offering precision sound effects through an intuitive interface. Experience the full spectrum of audio enhancement with features like a 10-band equalizer, sound amplifier, customizable presets, and advanced tools like 3D surround sound and bass boosting. Designed for both audiophiles and casual listeners, Flow Equalizer ensures your music, videos, and games sound better than ever.

You can control the Equalizer FX, Bass Boost, Volume Boost, and Virtualizer independently, which means you don't need to enable the Equalizer to use the Bass Boost.

To get the best results, pair this app with your best headphones. If you don’t have a pair of headphones or if you want to use a speaker, you can still enjoy good music with our app. This is also a great speaker booster if you use a Bluetooth speaker to listen to music or if you use a good music system with a subwoofer.

Getting Started¶

To get started with Flow Equalizer and enhance your audio, follow these steps:

Enable an audio effect: Before opening your music player, open Flow Equalizer and enable an effect like Bass Boost or the Equalizer.
Play your music: Open your favorite music player and start playing a track. Flow Equalizer automatically connects to the currently playing music player. While most music players work seamlessly, some might need additional configuration or may not support external equalizers. In such cases, Flow Equalizer can attach to the Global Audio Mix to process the sound, though this may not work on all devices. Adjust the sound: Go back to Flow Equalizer to fine-tune the settings like Equalizer bands, Bass Boost strength, or 3D Virtualizer to your liking.
Use headphones: For the best and most immersive experience, use headphones.
Closing the app: To close the application and turn off the effects, simply open Flow Equalizer and switch them off.

Features Explained¶

Here's a detailed look at what each feature does and how it can improve your listening experience.

Equalizer¶

The Equalizer allows you to customize sound frequencies with precision. Think of it as a sophisticated tone control for your audio. You can choose between 5 to 12 frequency bands to fine-tune your sound.

What it does: Each slider on the equalizer corresponds to a specific frequency range (e.g., low bass, mid-range, high treble). By moving the sliders up or down, you can boost or cut those frequencies.
How to use it:
- Want more bass in your hip-hop tracks? Raise the sliders on the left (low frequencies).
- Need to make vocals or podcasts clearer? Boost the mid-range frequencies.
- Want a crisper sound for cymbals in rock music? Increase the sliders on the right (high frequencies).

Volume Booster¶

The Volume Booster, also known as the Sound Amplifier, increases the overall audio loudness without compromising quality.

What it does: It safely increases the volume beyond your device's standard maximum.
When to use it: This is perfect for quieter audio recordings, noisy environments, or when you just need that extra bit of volume from your speakers or headphones.

Advanced Limiter¶

The Limiter gives you professional-grade control over your audio's dynamics, preventing distortion (clipping) while maximizing volume.

What it does: A limiter sets a ceiling for the audio signal, so it never gets too loud and distorts. This is especially useful when using the Volume Booster.
Key Parameters:
- Attack & Release Time: Control how quickly the limiter reacts to loud sounds and how quickly it lets go.
- Ratio & Threshold: Fine-tune how aggressively the limiter reduces volume once it hits the ceiling.
- Post Gain: Apply a final volume boost after the limiting process for optimal loudness without sacrificing clarity.

Bass Booster¶

The dedicated Bass Booster enhances the low-end frequencies of your audio.

What it does: It specifically targets and amplifies bass, giving your music a deeper, richer, and more powerful feel.
Who it's for: Ideal for bass lovers who want to feel the beat in genres like EDM, Hip-Hop, and Rock.

3D Virtualizer¶

The 3D Virtualizer creates an immersive, surround-sound-like experience from any standard stereo audio source (like headphones).

What it does: It uses advanced audio processing to create a broader, more spacious soundstage. It feels like the sound is coming from all around you, rather than just from your left and right headphones.
When to use it: Perfect for movies and gaming to feel more immersed in the action, or for music to create a live concert-like feel.

Channel Balance¶

The Channel Balance feature allows you to adjust the volume distribution between the left and right audio channels. This gives you precise control over your stereo sound field.

When to Use Channel Balance

This feature is particularly useful in several scenarios:

Correcting Hardware Imbalances: If one side of your headphones is naturally quieter than the other, you can shift the balance to compensate and create an even listening experience.
Adjusting for Your Environment: If you're not positioned perfectly between your stereo speakers, you can adjust the balance to make it sound as if you are.
Accessibility: For users with hearing loss in one ear, adjusting the channel balance can make audio more enjoyable and comprehensible.
Preventing Volume Fluctuations: Some phone manufacturers implement aggressive audio limiters that can cause the volume to fluctuate unexpectedly. Adjusting the channel balance can sometimes mitigate this issue.

How to Use It

Channel Gain Slider: Use the slider in the app to shift the audio focus. Moving it to the left will make the left channel louder, and moving it to the right will make the right channel louder. The center position represents an equal balance.

Remember, the key to a great audio experience is experimentation. Try different settings and combinations to find what sounds best to you. Feel free to explore and adjust until you achieve the desired sound quality.

Profiles¶

Profiles are customized sound settings that you can save and switch between. For example, you can create one profile for your car's Bluetooth system and another for your headphones, each with unique audio adjustments.

Creating and Managing Profiles

Create a Profile: Tap the "Current Profile" item in the General section or select "Save As Profile" from the 3-dot menu.
Auto-Apply on Connect: You can set a profile to apply automatically when you connect to a specific device (e.g., your car's Bluetooth).

How Auto-Apply Works

Profiles are "sticky": When a profile is applied (either manually or automatically), it remains active even after you disconnect the device.
Changing the active profile: The active profile only changes when:
- Another profile is set to auto-apply for a newly connected device (e.g., switching from headphones to a speaker).
- You manually select a different profile in the app.

How to Disable Effects on Disconnect

If you want all audio effects to turn off when you disconnect your headphones or Bluetooth device, you can use a profile to do so.

Create a new profile and turn all its effects off.
Set this "effects off" profile to automatically apply when connected to your phone's 'Speaker'.

This setup ensures that when no external device is connected, the effects are disabled.

Important Consideration:

Disabling all effects will stop the Equalizer's background service to save battery.
When the service is stopped, the auto-apply feature will no longer work until you manually open the app again.

Pro Tip: To keep the auto-apply feature working, instead of turning all effects off, create a profile where only the Bass Boost is enabled but set to 0%. This keeps the background service active without altering your sound.

Disable Battery Optimization: To ensure Flow Equalizer runs smoothly in the background without being turned off by your system, it's highly recommended to disable all battery optimizations for the app.
